September is National Recovery Month, sponsored by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). SAMHSA encourages every state to undertake activities that promote the importance of prevention, treatment and recovery services locally. To better promote the work being done to support those providing treatment, recovery, intervention and prevention throughout the Washington Metropolitan area, Gospel Rescue Ministries (GRM) and the DC Recovery Community Alliance (DCRCA), the Addictions Prevention Recovery Administration (APRA) along with 29 other treatment and recovery organizations have partnered together and will sponsor DC Recovery Weekend, 2007. DC Recovery Weekend is a series of promotional events intended to raise community, media, and public official awareness. These events will take place from September 12-16, 2007.
